Welcome to SKGOLD® Hosting!

Nice one – you’ve signed up for a shared web hosting account with us. Now, let us share some tips to make the most of your new account. Don’t have web hosting account yet? Join Here.

Step 1 - Change Your DNS - Before you can get your website up and running, you need to change your DNS (Domain Name Servers). You’ll find the details of this simple and necessary process in the e-mail entitled “Hosting Account Information” that has been sent to you right after account activation.

If you registered your domain name with SKGOLD® Hosting at signup, we have taken care of this step for you. Ignore this step and jump to the Step 2 .
If you have registered your domain name with another company (GoDaddy, NetFirms, NameCheap), you must change your DNS through that registrar. Follow their instructions or contact their customer support for assistance.

Once you have changed your DNS, expect to wait 24-48 hours for your DNS to resolve to the servers at SKGOLD® Hosting. This process is called Domain Propagation. Please contact our support team if it takes longer than two days for your web site to start working.

During a propagation you should use the following temporary URLs constructed using IP address:
  • To access cPanel use ----> http://11.11.11.111/cpanel/
  • To view your website use ----> http://11.11.11.111/~username/
Be sure to replace the IP address 11.11.11.111 and the username with the IP address and a username provided to you in the email entitled the "Hosting Account Information".

After a propagation you can use the normal URLs with your domain name:
  • To access cPanel use ----> http://cpanel.yourdomain.com
  • To view your website use ----> http://yourdomain.com

Step 2 - Build Your Web Site - Check out our "How to Build a Website?" guide to learn about different website building options. Recommended options are:

  • Online Drag and Drop Website Builder. These tool is ideal if you’re not fully versed in website design and programming.
  • Use the website design service at SKGOLD® Hosting.
  • Use pre-packaged online and offline web design softwares. These tools are ideal if you’re not fully versed in web design and programming. The servers at SKGOLD® Hosting are fully compatible with software tools like FrontPage, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Joomla, osCommerce and of others.

Step 3 - Upload Your Web Site - The easiest way for uploading your website is to use FTP client. We recommend downloading FileZilla, the open source free FTP software.

  • Insert your domain name in the "Host" field. Use the username and password sent to you in the e-mail titled "New Account Information". FTP connection always runs on Port 21.
  • Once your FTP is connected, go to the "public_html" folder and upload your files. To replace the default place holder page, you must upload and replace the index file, in all lowercase lettering.
Note: During a propagation you should use the your site's IP address in the "Host" field of your FTP client. You will find your site's IP address in the e-mail entitled "New Account Information".

Step 4 - Create Email Accounts - Please note that by default, you do not have an email address setup with SKGOLD® Hosting. You will need to configure this yourself in cPanel.

  • Login to your cPanel and in the "Mail" section click the "Email Accounts" icon. Fill up the form and follow onscreen instructions.
  • To read and send emails you can ether configure a Mail Client (such as Outlook, Thunderbird and so on…) or use the Webmail.
During a propagation you should use the following temporary URLs constructed using IP address:
  • To access cPanel use ----> http://11.11.11.111/cpanel/
  • To access Webmail use ----> http://11.11.11.111/webmail
Be sure to replace the IP address 11.11.11.111 with the IP address provided to you in the email entitled the "Hosting Account Information".

After a propagation you can use the normal URLs with your domain name:
  • To access cPanel use ----> http://yourdomain.com/cpanel/

Step 5 - Ask for Assistance - The support team at SKGOLD Hosting is available 24/7/365 in case you have questions. Our customer service representatives are ready and waiting to help you.

  • When you need answers right away, check out our informative knowledge base and the extensive collection of web hosting video tutorials. You'll find a number of articles and videos that address commonly asked questions and issues.
  • When you have a complicated question or complex challenge, one that requires technical expertise, open a support ticket through your client area. Our most skilled administrators work in our ticket system, so it’s the best place to go to resolve thorny issues in a timely manner.
Here are some suggestions to help you use our ticket system more effectively:
  • Submit just one ticket per issue. If you submit multiple tickets for the same issue, you can slow down the support process.
  • Remember to include in your request your primary domain name, username, and as many additional details as you can. If we will need a login ID and URL to duplicate the problem, please include those as well. The more information you provide to our administrators, the more quickly they can work out your issue.

Step 6 - Manage Your Billing and Account Info - You can take care of your billing, update your credit card information, view invoices, and change your primary email address in your client area.

SKGOLD® Hosting will automatically bill you for your web hosting account on the date that you completed your purchase; in other words, if you pay monthly, you will be billed each month on the date that you signed up. Please make sure that you have an updated credit card or PayPal subscription on file. If your bill is not paid in a timely manner, your service may be interrupted.

Through your client area you can also renew your domain name, upgrade your web hosting package, purchase add-ons, or cancel altogether.

  • To manage your domain names, go to "My Domains" section and click the "Details" icon in the last column of the "My Domains" table.
  • To make changes to your webhosting account, go to "My Services" section and click the "Details" icon in the last column of the "My Products and Services" table.
    • For SSL certificates, dedicated IP address, and other add-ons related to your webhosting account select the "Click to view available addons" link.
Please Note: The login details to the Client Area differ from your cPanel (website control panel) username and password. You can always reset them here.

And there you have it. So once again - welcome to SKGOLD® Hosting!
We look forward to working with you!!!
